Call Anywhere In The World Using Your Neighbor's Internet Connection |
Orange, CA (PRWEB via PR Web Direct ) December 14, 2005 -- Ask not
what your broadband connection can do for you, ask what your neighbor's
can do for you instead. If you have a portable WiFi phone, your neighbor's
high speed Internet connection can perform telephone miracles. Just
ask Romeo Mendoza, CEO of Internet phone company GoDialing.com. Today
they launched an affordable, portable WiFi phone aimed at the mass
market. The latest and greatest in telephone technology, these phones
allow users to make calls from any open WiFi hotspot for next to nothing.
While typical Internet phone customers are restricted to plugging
a regular home or office phone into an adapter that is linked to a
high speed Internet connection, WiFi phone users experience freedom.
WiFi phones combine two very hot technologies, WiFi, which creates
zones of high speed wireless connectivity, and Voice over Internet
Protocol, also known as VoIP, which enables users to make phone calls
over the Internet. WiFi phones allows users to make calls from anywhere
there is an open WiFi hotspot which is virtually everywhere nowadays.
You find hotspots in coffee shops, hotels, and airports. Google has
plans to blanket all of San Francisco with free WiFi access. By the
year 2007, fifty million homes in North America, Europe and Asia will
have WiFi connections.
WiFi phones are sold by other Internet phone providers, but with prices
hovering around $300, worldwide sales last year crept in at just 143,000
units. "We knew if we introduced a phone at half the price, we'd be
more accessible to the general public," says Romeo. "Priced at just
$155, the WiFi phones are now more than just a cool gadget, they're
a must have."
The discounted phone rates pose a significant threat to traditional
and cellular operators. Because traditional and cellular calls are
run through lines monopolized by companies, calls are substantially
more expensive than VoIP calls which are routed through the Internet.
"Whether you're calling for a cab after a long night in Las Vegas
or checking in with your wife while you're on a business trip in Hong
Kong, you can make unlimited calls to the U.S. There are no roaming
charges," says Romeo. Calls to countries other than the U.S. start
at just two cents per minute.
"As the world continues to move towards WiFi as the standard, WiFi
phones will dominate the market," Romeo notes.
Sales are already spiking. GoDialing.com estimates they'll move over
30,000 units this month. "The response been incredible," says Romeo.
"Our WiFi phones are ringing off the hook."
