Broadband Speed
Want to sign up to a broadband provider but are feeling a bit daunted? Broadband Essentials is the answer for you…
Broadband speed
Broadband comes in many different speeds, that is the speed with which
data travels up and down your phone line or cable network. The standard
entry level is now 1Mb, this is 20X faster than a dial-up internet
connection.
Other lower speeds are offered such as 150Kbps (3X faster than a dial-up)
and 256Kbps (5X faster than a dial-up) although 1Mb is generally accepted
as the standard.
Although 1Mb is the standard entry level 2Mb (40X faster than dial-up) is becoming cheaper and cheaper and we think this will become the entry level very soon. With 2Mb broadband you can do everything that you ever wanted to do on the internet, pages load almost instantly and online game playing is awesome.
If you are looking to experience the full potential of broadband than a 2Mb connection is essential. Movies, online-gaming and instant access to pictures and words are at your fingertips.
There are also other speeds available such as 4Mb and 8Mb and with
the roll out of ADSL2+ 22Mb.
