Changing Broadband Provider
Migrating to another ISP is a great
way of saving money as you can hunt around for the best deals now
that you have the equipment...
Changing ADSL provider
Migrations can only take place from like to like products. For example:
If your current ADSL service was installed by a BT engineer, or is
not the 50:1 contended service, you will need to cease that service
and order a new one.
What is a MAC code?
A MAC Code is a Migrations Authority Code issued by your current ISP.
This code is used to authenticate the migration request from your
current ISP to your new ISP and makes migration between ISP's much
simpler and quicker.
How long does it take?
The current lead time for broadband migration can be up to 5-6 working
days. This time may increase or decrease depending on the speed and
type of response BT receive from your current ISP.
As soon as it becomes available, your new ISP will provide you with a date for the migration of the service along with your technical details via e-mail to connect to the service.
Should I cancel my account with my current ISP?
No, cancelling your account with your current ISP may result in broadband
being removed from your telephone line. This would make it impossible
for you to transfer your connection and you would be required to re-order
broadband from the beginning.
Once BT have confirmed to your current ISP that your connection has
been transferred, your current ISP should make the necessary arrangement
to prevent further subscriptions being debited.
