Pipex was one of the UK's first internet service providers and has been in operation since 1991. However, Pipex sold its broadband and phone business to Tiscali in 2007. Pipex still provides business broadband under its original brand name but the Pipex home broadband packages are now on offer under the Tiscali brand name.
In a further move, Talk Talk which owns Tiscali, confirmed that the Tiscali brand will be no more from 7th January 2010. As part of the rebrand, TalkTalk plans to move Tiscali customers over onto the TalkTalk network. The company says that the move will allow customers to benefit from a more reliable service and faster broadband speeds. TalkTalk reckons that for most customers the migration will result in them paying a lower monthly price than now. But a number of people will have to pay more if they wish to use TalkTalk as their phone and broadband provider. The full migration of Tiscali customers to the TalkTalk network is expected to take place over the coming year.
